At Banstead Downs we enjoy a wonderful downsland golf course, designed by James Braid in 1890. It is a delight to play, and it has an extraordinary resilience to bad weather.
We enjoy our history and traditions, but are also committed to looking forward, as is clearly shown by the Course Developments, largely completed and scheduled for opening in early summer 2010, and the Clubhouse Redevelopment Programme also scheduled to complete in 2010.
We welcome Visitors and prospective Members, and hope that you are able to visit us and enjoy Banstead Downs for yourself.

Banstead Downs was founded in 1890 and designed by James Braid. It lies on the fast draining chalk down and sets a premium of accurate hitting. The current length is 6,195 yards but construction is already complete to convert the Par 4 1st to a Par 5, to add new tee locations to the 2nd and 16th, and overall to extend the course by over 400 yards. These extensions will come into play in the Summer of 2010. Members and guests also benefit from a full practice facility, chipping and short iron area plus a large practice putting green.

Ross McGowan, a lifelong member of Banstead Downs, finished 2009 in 12th place in the European rankings, having won the Madrid Masters in October 2009 and come 2nd to Lee Westwood in the season's final tournament in Dubai. This followed an excellent start to his professional European Tour career in 2008, finishing 70th in the Order of Merit, having qualified by coming 2nd in the Challenge Tour in 2007. Ross was also English Amateur Champion in 2006, beating Oliver Fisher in the final.
CLUBHOUSE DEVELOPMENT
In November 2009 the Membership approved a £750,000 Clubhouse Development Programme, to be completed during 2010. We are now proceeding with the project - for more information Click Here, and also see the Chairman's Statement.
