An extensive and exciting course development programme was started in 2008. and largely completed by the start of 2010. The programme includes major extensions to the 1st, 2nd and 16th holes, significant bunker moves and changes, and the construction of a reservoir to enable us manage drought conditions.
Construction, turfing and seeding work was completed on the range of hole extensions early in 2009, and they were brought into play in May 2010. The extensions add over 400 yards to the course, taking us from 6,192 yards to over 6,581 yards, and from a par 69 to a par 71 (standard scratch changing from 69 to 72).
Additionally, in the Spring of 2009 we completed numerous bunker moves, removals and additions. These complement the hole extensions and provide new challenges for golfers playing the course, as well as being positioned to take account of the additional length that can be achieved with modern golf equipment.
The course extensions are:
Finally, early in 2009 we also completed construction of a 1 million gallon reservoir to help us handle drought conditions, and it is full and available for use if needed.
In summary - we are now thoroughly enjoying the new challenges, which add significantly to the enjoyment of playing what was already a wonderful golf course!
