About The Course

hole17Banstead Downs was founded in 1890 and designed by James Braid. It winds its way across the fast draining chalk down, which makes it extraordinarily resilient to wet weather. The course is often playable when many others are not, and temporary greens are almost unheard of.

The greens at Banstead have a deserved reputation for year-round excellence, being relatively fast but always fair. Together with the undulating fairways and the variety of challenges including the recently relocated bunkers, they make it a wonderful place for players of all levels to enjoy a round of golf in natural surroundings,.

hole5The course extensions taking it from 6,195 to 6,581 yards were opened in May 2010. The Course Par has risen from 69 to 71, and the Standard Scratch Score from 69 to 72.

Members and guests also benefit from a full practice facility, chipping and short iron area plus a large practice putting green.
